Algae Blooms caused by leaves in the lake

After enjoying the trees that are painted with the beautiful colors of fall leaves, those leaves come to paint the ground.  No one enjoys picking up leaves, and that’s probably why many residents are inclined to let them blow into the lake.  However, in checking with our lake biologist, we find that leaves in the lake decay into nutrients which contributes to algae blooms in the spring.

Boaters Use of Paved Drive to "Bailey's" Store

For years, many residents of the Lake Bella Vista development have patronized the gas station and convenience store still often called “Bailey’s” on Belding Road, by boat and by walking up the paved drive from the lake to the convenience store.  The lake frontage adjacent to the convenience store is still owned by the Bailey family, but the convenience store owner (now American Gas and Oil) has a permanent easement from the dock to the convenience store facility.  It is the Lake Bella Vista Improvement Association’s position (and that of the convenience store owner) that residents of the Lake Bella Vista development have the right to temporarily moor their boat at the lake within the easement and to walk up to the convenience store and back.

2015 Water Quality Report

2015 WATER QUALITY REPORT CORRECTION
There is a correction on the 2015 Water Quality Report on page 4 (Water Quality Data Tables).  The unit for Lead was listed as ppb (parts per billion).  The correct unit is ppm (parts per million).  The MCL is .015. The action level is .015.
