| Spring Lake Conditions |
Posted on May 14th, 2012
The lake normally has its first algae bloom towards the middle of June. It is much earlier this year due to the mild winter weather conditions and the abnormal high temperatures in March. The trees are also pollinating much earlier than usual. Our lake management engineer informs us that the lake treatment is not effective until the water temperature reaches 55-60 degrees. Plus - the fish are spawning right now and the treatment has an adverse affect on them. The lake will be treated as soon as conditions permit; however, chemical treatment will not have any affect on the floating pollen.

| Garlic Mustard |
Posted on May 2nd, 2012
There have been reports of garlic mustard in the LBV Community. Garlic mustard is an invasive species. It is easily removed in the spring when the ground is soft. It should be bagged and disposed of. More information and a picture of the plant can be found at http://www.ipm.msu.edu/garlicmustard.htm.
